Lake Saint Anne (alt. 946m) is a crater lake located in a volcanic crater of the Eastern Carpathians, unique in Central/Eastern Europe. Sometimes the weather here is changing rapidly from sun to clouds and winds and so on, however, the place is strangely peaceful, makes me to think of X-Files or Twin Peaks atmosphere.

Nearby there is a small village called Balvanyos, more or less in the middle of nowhere, few hostels and a restaurant and that's it, well, a really good place to eat, and extremely cheap, people from other counties are coming here just for that; you can hear about this place in Germany or Hungary. It is highly recommended to have a break before driving back on the winding road.

August 28, 2009

If I'm really good at something, my best skill is to waste time, doing nothing, nothing useful for me or for the others. And I’m quite good at it, I do not even realize how the time is flying. Well, once in a blue moon there are “evidences” like the stuff below; I didn’t feel how the hours passed doing this... “video” :)
One of my good fellows told me when he saw this stuff that the music and the images are reflecting my mind... What can I say, that fellow couldn’t be closer than that :D

Well, this is not much... But this day I hiked for over five hours in the forest in a so-called "outdoor walk" :))

The Bucegi Mountains are located in central Romania, south of the city Braşov, being a part of the Southern Carpathians. There are some legends of these mountains some of them lasting for thousands of years, The Bucegi is believed to be the Dacian holy mountain Kogaion.

It is said that Zamolxis, the supreme God of the Dacians (who are the ancestors of the Romanian people), had his home and sanctuary in a cave, inside the Kogaion. According to Strabo, Zalmoxis retreated in the Kogaion cave to consult the oracles. The cave must have been branched labyrinth-like, the legend said that Zamolxis was disappearing for long lapses of time in the depth of the mountain. According to Herodotus, The Dacians who believed in the immortality of the soul, looked upon death merely as going to Zalmoxis, as they knew the way to become immortals.

Kogaion is translated as "Sacred Mountain" or "The Head of The Magnificient", nowadays known as "The Sphinx".

On the plateau there are also some mushroom shaped rock formations, the result of erosion and varying hardness of the rock layers; their name is "Babele" (Old Ladies), some legends are also telling that a female and her sheep were transformed in the rocks we see today.
