Perfect morning in Split, a City on the Adriatic Sea shore, centered around the ancient Roman Palace of the Emperor Diocletian and its bay and port.
As many great things from the Past, unfortunately The Emperor Diocletian's mausoleum has been transformed into a big cathedral as well. What we can do... Maybe some Gods retire and make way for others, but for sure History is written by the winners :P In any case, it still preserves the Ancient Roman atmosphere :)
After climbing for a while on city's narrow streets (not so fun when there are almost 40 degrees :P), you're getting in the highest place of the city, where the remains of a Spanish fortress have been fully restored.
If you are on this island, do not leave without trying the local food and the amazing white wine, here you can find some of the finest restaurants in Croatia. Croatia is well known for the fact that the lunch almost has the status of a state religion - in general the cities have their dedicated food brochure at the info offices ;) A good restaurant always starts your lunch (before starters!) with tuna pate and olives in oil on the house - this is an amazing stuff. Definition of prosciutto could change in your brain after you're trying for starters the local one with some yellow melon slices. And of course, the main dish has to be from the Sea! :D Do not be surprised if a lunch lasts for three hours :P Natives are quite friendly and professional giving food advices :))
Well, it is time to get back to Split. Because of a storm on the sea, trip back took almost three hours, but it was not boring at all, I had the chance to enjoy one of the most amazing sunsets I ever seen :)
And that was a surprise: I thought that after the sun sets down, the show is over. I was wrong :)
Back to Split again, took my time now to explore the city at night.
